NOTHING CAN STOP TORG
Director: Ross Payton
3d animation
4:53 2001

Robots were my bogeymen and imaginary friends when I was a child. I grew up around early toy robots as y parents wrote a book on antique sci fi collectables called SPACETOYS. From these experiences I became preoccupied with these automatons-made-modern. I created this video out of my fascination with these motifs and to show how they still affect our visions of the future.

UNREAL IS HERE
Director: David Gracon
Video
3 minutes. 2001

In the spirit of the Situationists International, UNREAL IS HERE subverts the spectacle of the nightly news and entertainment television in a way that challenges dominate media codes and representation. The commodification of the image had become such a cultural norm that the real had been replaced with hyper real. As these murky boundaries ominously continue to blur, a critical sense and mental environment need to be arranged in a way that actively engages the viewer in thought provoking manner. Before change can occur, people must be conscious of our postmodern condition.
